The Pioneer Theatre has been a loved and cherished spot for locals and visitors to Manteo, NC. This carefully treasured theatre boasts being the oldest family-operated theatre in the United States. It’s English Tudor-style architecture and attention to detail brings each visitor back to the days of old.
Whether you need a romantic escape, some evening fun or a rainy day activity, the Pioneer Theatre is a great stop. It originally opened in Manteo, NC in 1918 by George W. Creef Jr. It moved to its current location in 1937 and has been owned and operated by Creef family ever since. They have worked hard to maintain the beauty of the building and to provide an entertainment experience that is family-oriented and affordable. There is a nominal fee for entry and refreshments are inexpensive so an evening here does not empty the pocketbook!
The interior has been recently remodeled with new, comfortable seats and drapes that enhance the relaxing, cozy atmosphere. The theatre is open Monday thru Sunday with an evening show each night from 8:00pm – 10:00pm. Movies change weekly on Fridays.
