What is your favorite thing about fall? It would not take long to fill a top ten list! The beautiful red, orange, and yellow colors, the smell of pumpkin pie, crisp cool weather, wearing your favorite sweaters, hot apple cider…we could just go on and on! Island Farm in Manteo, NC on Roanoke Island is a true breath of fresh air. This living history farm interprets daily life in the mid-1800s. You can take a step back in time and learn about island culture, farming, slavery, fishing, windmills, and more. They have wonderful events happening all year long but they definitely pull out all of the stops for Pumpkin Patch Days 2014.
If you have a busy fall season, have no fear, as Pumpkin Patch Days will be taking place on every Saturday throughout October. When you get to the farm, you will have the opportunity to relax on an ox-drawn wagon for a ride to the pumpkin patch. Look for the biggest, the smallest, or the one with the most character—whether it is for baking, decorating, or carving you are sure to find the perfect one! If you are up for a little fun, try your hand at making a cornhusk doll or a handmade candle. Capture some memories in the scarecrow photo booth and check out all of the farm animals. If you are planning on coming on the last day, October 25th, throw on your favorite costume for a special prize from the farm.
