The endless days of summer have come to a close, but not without a little offshore excitement. Hurricane Bill paid a distant visit to the Outer Banks, staying well offshore but creating some great waves for the surfers. Needless to say, Anne Sterling ventured to the seashore trying to capture that perfect wave.
We gave her the day off since she had worked so hard being the perfect little hostess at The White Doe Inn.
Looks like we may make it through another hurricane season … just a few more weeks to go! It’s amazing, when the first storm blows through, how the air clears and you can feel that fall is just around the corner. It’s a great time to explore the beaches for treasures tossed ashore by wind driven waves, unusual shells from beyond the surfline, sea glass polished by nature, and those mysterious gifts left behind challenging the mind to figure out what it is, where it came from, and what its history might be.
What a life … sun, sea and the beach! As Sterling says, “Somebody has to do it!”
