A Day in the Life of Manteo: Saturday, April 6, 2019.
Rum aficionados, mark this day on your calendar. At 10:00 a.m., Outer Banks Distilling will be releasing its limited edition Kill Devil Shipwreck Series aged rum. Each small batch is named for a historical Outer Banks shipwreck and features its own distinctive blend. The downtown Manteo distillery offers tastings and tours and visitors who wish, can purchase bottles of the award-winning rum.

From the distillery, head over to Sir Walter Raleigh Street to Downtown Books, where Kevin Duffus, a well-known North Carolina historian, filmmaker and author, will be presenting two talks on the 1918 rescue of the British tanker Mirlo off the coast of Hattaras. Duffin is the author of several seafaring books, including Shipwrecks of the Outer Banks and The Last Days of Blackbeard the Pirate. \

At 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, White Doe Inn is proud to host Mel Melton and the Wicked Mojo’s Benefit for Dare2Care.The band is a Southern standout, performing a lively mix of blues, zydeco/Cajun, funk and swamp pop.
Dare2Care is a wonderful group that brings awareness and support to Outer Banks veterans. Its inclusive band, The Shredders, will kick off the event. Lachine Cuisine will be on hand serving food and OBX Distilling, 1718 Brewery and Vineyards on the Scuppermong will furnish refreshments,
