OBX Ghost Tours. Are the Outer Banks beaches the most haunted ones in America? You can find out on this guided lantern tour that wanders through Manteo as it dredges up scary stories and uncovers resident ghosts.

Evening Lantern Tours: Draped in Black. Island Farm, a living history site takes visitors on a nighttime tour of a grieving widow’s home. Let by costumed interpreters, you’ll learn about the ways Victorian families mourned through stories and a lantern lit trip to the family graveyard.

Winterlights at Elizabethan Gardens. Discover a twinkling winter wonderland as you stroll the garden paths at Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo on November 24. Adding to the magic are decorated trees in the Gatehouse and Reception Hall and a cracking fire on the Great Lawn. The event, sponsored by Southern Bank, also includes a seasonal gift shop and plant sale.

Christmas in Manteo. Kick off the holidays with the Lighting of the Town Tree on Friday, November 30. The all-family affair on the waterfront includes hot chocolate and holiday music sung by kids. On Saturday morning, December 1, the Annual Christmas Parade heads through town; afterwards, you can take the kids to visit Santa at the boathouse. Then on Saturday afternoon, enjoy our Holiday Tour of Homes, where you can peek inside some of our beautiful historic island homes.
