March is already upon us, which means the first day of spring is just around the corner! With spring comes warmer temps, longer days and the perfect time to visit North Carolina’s beautiful Outer Banks! With average temps in the 60’s, lots of sunshine, miles of beaches, and fewer crowds, what more can you ask for?
How about the 29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Nags Head, NC? What began as a way to combat the winter blues and revitalize the community in preparation for summer, has grown to become the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in North Carolina, with over 100 entrants and over 8,000 attendees! This family friendly celebration embraces the best of the Outer Banks’ spirit!
On Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 1:00pm, the one-mile parade route begins at Bladen St. (Mile Post 11.5) and runs north to Driftwood St. on Virginia Dare Trail (Beach Rd.). This year’s theme is “Red, White and Blue… with a splash of Green!” to celebrate both American patriotism and Irish-American heritage. A respected panel of judges will score entrants on the use of the theme in the following categories: Best Overall, Best Float, Best Unit, and Best Band/Music group. Prizes will be awarded after the parade.
