    November 25, 2017 through January 20, 2018

The luminous glow, holiday décor, and whimsical displays are a true spectacle of magical beauty.   2. Manteo, NC Christmas Parade
    December 2, 2017
    Showcasing local school bands, association floats (over 50 registered last year!), vintage cars, horses, and more, you don’t want to miss this hometown holiday procession! Pre-show festivities begin at the review stand in front of the historical Dare County Courthouse. The finale is Santa arriving on the fire truck to visit with children.   3. 13th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes
    December 2, 2017 from 12:00 – 6:00pm
    The 13th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes in Manteo on Roanoke Island features festively decorated homes, including several historic island homes and new construction homes using the “Manteo Way of Life” guidelines. Check in at the historical Outer Banks Distillery, located at 510 Budleigh Street, where you can enjoy light refreshments, a tour of the building, and afternoon tastings. Tickets are $20 each and will be available to purchase the day of the tour beginning at 11:30am.
  4. Historic Home Tour
    December 3, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:00pm
    Inhabited by a small group of locals for hundreds of years, Okracoke Village encompasses a large array of homes in just a four-square-mile radius. So, whether you love history or the holidays, come tour these splendid historical homes, learn about their rich histories, and experience the spirit of the season during this year’s Annual Historic Home Tour.   5. Working Watermen Oyster Roast & Shrimp Boil
    December 30, 2017
    “Caught today the traditional way,” describes the purpose of the Ocracoke Working Watermen’s Association (OWWA), a non-profit group that includes over thirty men and women who keep alive non-mechanical harvesting methods for fish, oysters, clams and crabs. Join them and hundreds of other seafood fans as they shuck oysters, peel shrimp, and feast on old-fashioned fish stew, in celebration of the community’s last fish house. Just be sure to save room for dessert! Located at Ocracoke’s Community Square, a welcoming gathering place for watermen, merchants, locals, and tourists alike, since 1918.
