The arts and culture meet the great outdoors at the 36th Annual New World Festival of the Arts. A tradition in Manteo for several decades, this free festival is a wonderful way to experience what new trends are taking place in the visual arts while also getting to see all that the Town of Manteo has to offer.
This free, outdoor festival brings over 75 world-class artists and 5,000 to 6,000 attendees to the historic Manteo waterfront. This year, on August 16th & 17th, guests can enjoy an abundance of fine art from 10am to 5pm, including photography, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, wood design, and more. Cash and merit awards will be given to selected artists including a $1,000 cash prize for Best in Show. Also, on Wednesday, August 16, at 5pm, the Dare County Arts Council will host an artist reception at their Gallery in downtown Manteo. Guests attending this reception can enjoy the “Ocean & Earth” Painting Exhibit by last year’s Best in Show 2D award recipient, Ed Obermeyer.
