In a world that is driven by technology, you can now go see a feature film that is created entirely on a computer. Movies made with computer-generated-imagery take a person into places never explored and makes scenes truly come to life. As awesome as a movie like this can be, there is something just so enjoyable about going to the theatre with live actors and live music, watching stories come to life in front of our eyes. The Theatre of Dare right here in Manteo is bringing The Music Man to the stage and its going to a special production we know you will enjoy.
The Music Man is a musical comedy that has been entertaining audiences since 1957. Written by Meredith Wilson, this family-friendly production has won six Tony Awards and brings a story that entertains all generations. It is funny, touching, romantic, warm, and silly at different points in the story. River City Iowa is where it all takes place and trouble starts when witty, scheming con man, Harold Hill, rolls into town. He is looking to make a fortune and decides to scheme the community into thinking they need a boys band. Claiming to be a professor of music, his plan is to take the money paid for instruments and uniforms and skip town but it all comes to a halt when he falls in love with the town piano teacher. He changes his ways and comes out and honest man in the end. If you have never seen this on stage, it will be an absolutely enjoyable evening should you be staying in town with us while it is playing.
