Discover Roanoke Island

Start your morning with our full breakfast, then pick up your picnic lunch for two, and with tickets in hand, start your self-guided tour of Roanoke Island.

First stop is Roanoke Island Festival Park where you can visit the replica of the Elizabeth II and learn of the history of the first English Settlement, 23 years before Jamestown. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Fort Raleigh National Historic Park and explore the history of the First Colony to America, Native American Culture, the Civil War, and the Freedman’s Colony, all here on Roanoke Island. Then, off you go to the Elizabethan Gardens to tour 10.5 acres, where the internationally acclaimed landscape firm of Innocenti and Webel were commissioned to design The Elizabethan Gardens in 1953.
