Summertime
"Summertime an' the livin' is easy,
Fish are jumpin' and' the cotton is high." - Ira Gershwin
Summer is the time to play, to relax and to enjoy quiet breezes, easy conversation and catch a nostalgic glimpse of days gone by. It's a time for exploring the waters around Roanoke Island, listening to musical renditions drifting across the evening tides from Roanoke Island Festival Park or taking a breathtaking sunset cruise on the Down East Rover Schooner. In the evenings, The Lost Colony Outdoor Drama is performed nightly and pleasant walks along the waterfront after dinner are a must.
This is the busiest time of year, when everyone wants to soak in the sun and play in our waters. Our beaches are incredibly beautiful and not nearly as crowded as other beaches on the East Coast. We invite you to come to the Outer Banks and experience all that Summertime has to offer.
